If you are currently using EssentialFax on Windows XP or Windows Vista, and you are upgrading to Windows 7, the following information may be helpful.
First make a Backup copy of the EssentialFax Files.
It is a good idea to do a complete backup of the EssentialFax files to an external hard drive, usb disk etc. first. A description of the files that need to be backed up can be found here.
The new version of EssentialFax (version 1.75 or above) can import these from an external hard drive, usb drive or other external media.
Upgrading From Windows Vista...
Actual upgrade: If you do an upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, Windows 7 should carry forward your user documents folder, which is where all of your faxes and phonebook are stored.
Custom Installation: If you do a custom (clean) install of Windows 7 rather than an upgrade, it should make a copy of your old user files, including the EssentialFax faxes and phonebook. The Windows 7 installer will put your old Windows files in the folder Windows.old which will be on your system drive. The new version of EssentialFax (version 1.75) can import these. The old EssentialFax folder should then be found at:
Printer Driver: You will need to reinstall EssentialFax, and it must be version 1.70 or above, in order to set up the EssentialFax Printer on Windows 7.
